Diamonds Yet Not

By Minahil Mehr

In the shine doth they shine, so little yet so bright,

Not one but together they doth illuminate the black sky of the night.

Named stars for they doth shine so high,

Above all else doth they view from the sky.

Cloaked in the mornings, invisible in the daylight,

Yet they doth dance with the moon together in the majestic dark night.

Stars only by name, but in reality something else, something more,

The night sky’s stars are indeed diamonds we adore.

Such diamonds that we cannot afford, cannot reach, cannot take,

Such diamonds that not we, but the universe did so magnificently make.
