Circle of Life & The Art of Forgiveness

Poems by Minahil Mehr

Circle of Life

All starts as young and small,

Having absolutely no knowledge at all.

Then grows as it is raised,

By new things it is dazed.

Developing understandings of the world and those within,

Aging over time as the world continues to spin.

A time arrives, to seek education, to go to school,

Learning that nothing in society is so without a rule.

Primary school to high school, a nurturing home for the teenage years,

A place to make friends, socialize, and overcome societal fears.

To work hard, seize the future, with new people and new friends,

To the outer world of independence, high school indeed sends.

The young become grown, the weak become strong.

The knowledge is acquired, the line is known between right and wrong.

The step walks into life, the small are small no more,

Strong in society, civilized to the core.

Age increases as time passes by,

And when fate decides, such a time arrives to bid the world goodbye.

Buried deep in the Earth, in the depths of the soils,

Away from the problems of the world, all its turmoil.

Life begins as life ends, with bitter and sweet times,

Life begins at the first but ends at the last chimes.

The Art of Forgiveness

To forgive another’s misdeed is truly an art,

Forgiveness is a symbol of mercy from the heart.

To give one another chance to repent,

Any hostility or animosity it indeed does prevent.

But forgiveness is not to be taken for granted, it must be earned,

One’s wrong must be corrected and a valuable lesson learned.

Forgiveness is not between one but two,

It must be sought, the barrier of pride broken through.

One must admit to being wrong, bereft of reputation or pride,

For the wrongdoing, one must feel truly remorseful inside.
